The New Salle Rameau aims to reconnect with its original cultural purpose by completely rethinking its internal operations. New dressing rooms, artists’ and audience lounges, offices, storage areas, freight elevators, and passenger elevators are being redesigned in collaboration with the operator to increase flexibility. The project also includes the completion of the roof, with the construction of a glass dome. On the top floor, a restaurant area will offer a panoramic view of Lyon. Behind its restored Art Nouveau facades, the Salle Rameau will offer a diverse program of concerts, live performances, conferences, debates, and private events. On the ground floor, a “cultural third place” open to all will be created, combining a small “discovery” stage, artistic pop-ups, a canteen, and an incubator for cultural projects. The new layout of the hall, completely refreshed and contemporary, takes advantage of a wraparound balcony, a front balcony, and a gently sloping floor. Public access has been streamlined and redesigned to accommodate spectators with disabilities. The seats in the stalls can be moved on wheels and stored under the stage, freeing up a large standing area for spectators. Thanks to its technical grid of tensioned cables, the new Rameau hall will have a modern and flexible scenographic tool at its disposal. Stage equipment and materials can be positioned at the desired height, facilitating the hosting of concerts and productions. All the infrastructure and stage networks support a comfortable and operational hall.
