The new conservatory in Clichy-sous-Bois is located in the heart of the city, between the large lawn, Clichy’s premier public space, and the orangery. This building, with its undulating volumes, stands out while blending into the landscape. At the center of the building is a patio around which are arranged all the music, dance, and visual arts studios, which are spacious and open onto the city and the outdoors. On the ground floor is a 200-seat performance hall, the beating heart of the building, designed as a flexible space where students and outside performers can create and perform throughout the year. The first two rows are recessed so that they can be covered to increase the depth of the stage space, and a large stage front walkway allows for optimal use of this proscenium. The wings are generous and the rotating side curtains allow for a quick change from a German to an Italian configuration. The entire building is connected in terms of infrastructure, allowing easy links between recording studios, the orchestra pit, and the control room of the main hall.
