Scenography

The Théâtre de Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines – Scène Nationale (TSQY) was built by Stanislas Fiszer and inaugurated in 1993. Our modernization and extension project involves partially modifying the building’s exterior façade by adding a hall to the outer court, as well as renovating the existing theater and modular venue. Partially modified in the lower part, the new façade of the theatre offers a dialogue between Fiszer’s original massive architecture and our new lightweight architecture, inspired by the aesthetic world theatrical and fairground. This architectural overlay creates a dynamic and joyful dialogue. The outer court is equipped with a large transparent hall closed and covered, structured around convivial reception and dining areas. This longitudinal vessel is also equipped with upper stage structures, also providing additional creative space. Regarding scenographic modifications in the theater, accessibility for persons with reduced mobility has been created : the existing seats in the theatre have been renovated identically to preserve their ergonomics and acoustic qualities. Seats are voluntarily reconditioned and not replaced with new ones, limiting construction waste. Our project is part of an active ecological approach. The multifunctional hall is renovated and modernized with the replacement of the fixed stage with a motorized telescopic stand. This new arrangement multiplies the number of creative stage configurations. This modernization and extension project offers a partial but efficient and economic renovation.
