Scenography

The Castle of the Dukes of Württemberg is transformed into a theater of extraordinary stories, where each room becomes an act of theater and the backdrop for a narrative offering an immersive staging of the different periods of the Duchy of Württemberg and its territory. By combining collections, historical discourse, and storytelling, these theaters allow the imagination and sensitivity to express themselves. The sets do not seek to provide a rigorous historical reconstruction, but rather to contextualize the collections and introduce an element of fantasy and creativity. The historical journey unfolds in 15 historic rooms of the castle, corresponding to 15 acts that tell the story of the powerful figures, scientists, and artists who have left their mark on the castle and the city. From one room to the next, the scenographic diversity is infinite, from graphic frescoes to sets, from trompe-l’oeil to contemporary staging and video mapping projections. The scenography adapts to the spaces and offers various perspectives. Visitors are thus spectators but also actors. This approach makes the discourse accessible to all while satisfying knowledgeable visitors with a true historical interpretation, transporting them from reality to fiction, from literal vision to imagination.
