L'étoile

L’Étoile is a unique cultural venue in the heart of downtown Mouvaux: versatile, flexible, and community-oriented. When the sun sets, the building transforms into a luminous lantern, becoming an architectural spectacle in its own right. It is an invitation to discover what is happening inside. Designed to bring people together, L’Étoile is built on a trapezoidal plot. The Interior Street evokes a fissure, serving both as a boundary and a meeting place. It guides visitors while flooding the interior with light. It houses the reception hall, which structures the space across three levels. On one side lies the highly modular performance hall; on the other, multi-purpose community spaces, exhibition and conference areas, and spaces dedicated to the arts (theatre, music, visual and plastic arts, etc.), all visible from the public realm. The modular hall offers multiple configurations thanks to its balcony, flat-floor stalls, and telescopic seating system, a true capacity-adjustment tool. The balcony, which incorporates a control booth and accessible seating positions, can be concealed behind a capacity curtain. The telescopic seating can be configured according to seated, standing, or mixed seated/standing audience requirements. The stage is height-adjustable and can retract into the floor of the stalls area, allowing the stage depth to be extended or reduced. To meet modern stage requirements, the ceiling incorporates a false grid, catwalks, sliding battens, and state-of-the-art audiovisual and lighting networks.
