Scenography
Fifty years after its construction, the Alpes-Congrès project has restored the building to its former glory and serves as the starting point for a more comprehensive renovation of the Alpexpo site. The building’s remarkable, almost industrial structure forms a deliberately simple and versatile space with four superb aerial staircases at its corners. It houses a vast, light-filled hall, a foyer overlooking the Alps, the Oisans room, which can be divided into two entities, and the Grande Salle Dauphine. The program, both frugal and ambitious, has enabled us to improve the project’s stage functionality, notably by adding a freight elevator, which is essential for deliveries. The new Dauphine Hall has been completely refurbished inside. The existing seating, while retaining its sleek design and historical form, has been fitted with new, more comfortable seats, including dedicated spaces for people with reduced mobility and a pre-wired control room in the hall. Partition curtains allow the seating capacity to be reduced depending on the event or ticket sales. A control room, open to the acoustic volume of the hall, improves the operation and running of conferences and shows. The stage area has undergone a complete modernization of its infrastructure and networks, which are now compatible with the latest protocols. The new stage floor is overhung by a faux-gril equipped with hanging rails and a support beam in the auditorium. A panoramic roll-up screen, video projectors, and a sound system now have accessible and adjustable locations.
