Scenography
Access to the museum is from Place Napoléon, restoring visibility to the façade of the former courthouse and its large columns. In the center of the building, the former courtroom is adorned with paintings and offers its space to largescale works. The tour then winds around this main room, beginning with the historical tour on the ground floor. On either side of the courtroom, glass-covered passageways guide visitors through the permanent exhibition to the Fine Arts section, which consists of two spaces connected by a walkway offering a view of the courtroom before descending to the last room, the counterpart to the History section, dedicated to temporary exhibitions. Setting the scene. Throughout the tour, openings, gaps, and windows offer unexpected views of the works or architecture, giving the tour its permeability through time and space. The façade of the courtroom unites and links the museum and City Hall. The architectural half-dome vault on the museum side becomes a backdrop for the City Hall atrium, while its façade serves as a frame.
