Scenography

The Dadan Interpretation Center is part of a comprehensive and dynamic visitor experience. It provides the keys to understanding the site, but is also a privileged point for understanding the entire AlUla Valley. It is a gateway between the site and the skywalk, a space of transition and “transformation” that explains why and how the powerful Dadanite and Lihyanite kingdoms were deeply rooted in a lasting relationship between man and nature, building this “cultural landscape.”The Jabal Ikmah Center is a prelude to visiting this “openair library.” The exhibition tells the story of the Dadanite petroglyphs and writings, but also offers a broader approach to these traces: why do people write on rocks, in hidden caves, or in the open air? Why did humans choose this particular site, and what is so extraordinary about Jabal Ikmah? Jabal Ikmah can be considered a collective monument, which has collected layers of history like layers of time; it is a palimpsest that traces thousands of years and thousands of lives in different languages.
