Scenography

The National Pulse Memorial & Museum will honor the 49 lives that were taken, their families, the 68 victims who were injured, all survivors affected, first responders, and healthcare professionals who cared for victims during the shooting that took place at the LGBT nightclub Pulse in Florida on June 12, 2016.The memorial is designed as a sanctuary of love, hope, and healing dedicated to the survivors affected and those left behind. The Pulse building remains, but a passageway runs through it to open it up to light; it is surrounded by a water basin consisting of 49 colors commemorating the victims, which radiate from the heart of the site and throughout the project. The new garden becomes a place of life and gathering. The museum symbolically captures the waves of PULSE, recording and collecting traces, archives, and testimonies to tell its story and pass it on to the public. The Memory Tower is the spatial and conceptual heart of the museum and constitutes the memory of this tragedy. It literally runs through the entire building. It is an installation that provides unity and connects the various artifacts, objects, and media collected, like a dreamlike construction conveying a vision of unity and hope with the aim of educating, encouraging reflection, and inspiring positive change
