Scenography

The scenography is being created as part of the development of the Fontmaure Cultural Center, located in the former Fontmaure hospital and listed as a historic monument. The “Espace Charreton” museum space is dedicated to the painter Victor Charreton, whose works were bequeathed to the town of Chamalières by Dr. Robert Chatin. A leading figure of the Murols School, Victor Charreton is known for his mastery of color; he devoted himself mainly to landscapes, particularly those of the Auvergne region. The scenography project proposes an initial display of Charreton’s works, as well as the layout of the adjacent temporary exhibition space. The display may evolve over the coming seasons. The scenography combines a classic wall display with a series of “portico” picture rails placed in the center of the space, allowing visitors to move freely around the exhibition. These porticos offer a flexible hanging system for displaying the works and graphic panels. This is a unique presentation, creating both an open perspective on the space and a dialogue between the works; this arrangement thus composes several thematic spaces (seasons, colors, etc.). The porticos are made of white lacquered metal, they are removable and feature a Volvic stone base to ensure perfect stability and a unique and harmonious aesthetic.
