Carlo Ratti General Curator of the 2025 Architecture Biennale
The year 2024 opens with the appointment of architect and engineer Carlo Ratti as General Curator of the XIX Venice Architecture Biennale, to be held from May 24 to November 23, 2025 at the Giardini and Arsenale. Born in 1971, Carlo Ratti teaches at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Milan’s Politecnico. Director of the MIT Senseable City Lab and founding partner of CRA-Carlo Ratti Associati (Turin, New York and London), he is a graduate of the Politecnico di Torino and the Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées in Paris, and holds a doctorate from Cambridge University in the UK.
Carlo Ratti comments: “We architects like to think we’re smart, but true intelligence is everywhere: in the ingenuity of evolution, the growing power of computers and the collective wisdom of the crowd. To cope with this world, architecture must harness all the intelligence that surrounds us.
