Auditorium Claude Lévi-Strauss Musée du Quai Branly

At the heart of the Quai Branly – Jacques Chirac Museum in Paris, the auditorium stands out as a unique, immersive space, designed as a showcase for speech, music, and live performance. Its recessed architecture transforms the tiered seating into a fluid topography: contour lines surround the stage, creating a relief effect that envelops the audience. Access is from above, immersing the audience in an enveloping atmosphere from the moment they enter. The boundary between the foyers and the auditorium is modulated by an ingenious system of acoustic and decorative curtains, designed by Issey Miyake, dUCKS scéno, and Jean Nouvel, allowing for great flexibility of use. The auditorium thus becomes a variable, lively, and adaptable space. All technical equipment was integrated into the design from the outset: control room, architectural-scenic false ceiling, motorized supports, lighting walkways, roman curtains, and video projection screens.
