Scenography
The Écusson district, Montpellier’s historic city center, has been revitalized thanks to the refined and coordinated new developments by Atelier Jacqueline Osty et associés and the project management team.
We have designed five specific and distinct public routes with a sensitive and original approach, revealing the theatrical elements present in the city and creating a new dramaturgy of space. Each route is punctuated with unique scenographic features, increasing urban intensity (landmarks, stopping points, framing, etc.) and the appropriation of the city by its inhabitants. These five thematic routes incorporate permanent installations (studs, bollards, plaques, framing, viewpoints, technological tools, VR, etc.) and temporary installations (urban sites that can be easily transformed into reversible “stage spaces”: animations, event installations, etc.). Each urban scenography generates new urban narratives, poetry, and a sensitive collective imagination, for the benefit of city dwellers. Ultimately, urban scenography creates social ties and citizen appropriation.
