Le CENTQUATRE - Tribune de la nef Curial

The CENTQUATRE is an innovative artistic and cultural hub located in Paris’s 19th arrondissement. With its modular spaces and demanding programming, this third place welcomes artists, audiences, and start-ups to a vibrant and collaborative living space. Its monumental spaces consist of halls and naves covered with glass roofs or largely open to the outside. The Nef Curial offers a high level of scenographic flexibility, capable of transforming its layout thanks to a veritable “gauge slider,” namely its modular and movable telescopic grandstand. During trade shows or exhibitions, the grandstand frees up the Nef and offers a vast, level platform conducive to strolling. The grandstand elements are then stored or used “in situ” to form half-steps or an observation podium. During concerts, conferences, or shows, the grandstand and its modular elements are assembled to form a grandstand with more than 620 seats, including spaces for people with reduced mobility and, above all, an accessible control room overlooking the stage. Other grandstand configurations, fully or partially deployed, allow for capacities adapted to each event, with the possibility of mixed seating and standing capacities. The design of this grandstand required the development of special techniques to meet the challenges and needs of users, including: modular container-type control rooms and stairs, multidirectional transport trolleys, and air cushions.
