Scenography
Based around the Albert Khan collection (from photographs to ethnographic pavilions and “exotic” gardens), the project involves creating an extension to the museum that will enable it to welcome visitors in conditions appropriate to the 21st century, with permanent and temporary exhibition spaces in a resolutely contemporary building and exhibition infrastructure (display systems, lighting, networks) that are perfectly integrated and available, consistent and open to the different uses of these spaces. Albert Kahn’s dream of merging the garden and the building has been realized by merging the environment and the architecture. The project thus continues in the garden and the various historic buildings, which have been redesigned internally and made “capable” of hosting works of art, a scenographic tour, and modern mediation tools. The auditorium, with only a hundred seats, is a project in itself, where the scenographic elements had to be adapted to an “atypical” space in the existing building and its architectural transformation by Kengo Kuma.
