Scenography
To create a world-renowned reference museum, that showcases its collections in an innovative way while adapting to the constraints of the Hôtel Lacroix-Laval. To enable easy rotation of collections for preventive conservation reasons. The collections tour begins on the ground floor of the Hôtel-Neuf and develops over the three levels of the Hôtel Lacroix-Laval. The paths focus on the interior façades and enhance the perspectives created by the existing openings. External views from the museum spaces are maintained but partially filtered to respects conservation regulations. The adequacy of the collections programme and the distribution of building listed spaces require innovative scenographic devices and an optimization of the hangingThe museum displays a variety of works, including chassismounted fabrics, costumes, furniture and various objects. Rather than adopting a traditional hanging system, the project proposes a dynamic “patchwork” display that mixes different types of work and encourages comparisons and superimpositions, by investing mainly the peripheral walls of the rooms and large glazed volumes.
