Scenography
With its faceted Corten steel façade, Espace Quérandeau stands in the heart of the city, capturing the attention and curiosity of passersby. It is an extroverted and open space: an Agora. The immersion and staging begin right outside! Indeed, the great originality of Espace Quérandeau is that it opens onto a green theater thanks to a monumental door. Facing the landscaped park, artists can perform in front of an outdoor audience in a bucolic setting while taking advantage of the technical elements of the stage. On the town hall side, the vast, light-filled reception hall offers visitors a moment to linger in an exhibition space that opens onto the bar and ticket office. Thus, all the facades draw visitors in and invite them to discover this modular hall. The spatial concept is designed to be practical and efficient. The telescopic grandstand acts as a real gauge slider, deploying partially or fully to offer a variable capacity of 300 to 500 seats. When folded away, it frees up nearly 500 m² of floor space to accommodate standing spectators, a lounge, workshops, or an exhibition. The stage facilities offer great flexibility of use, allowing the hall to be configured for concerts and shows, but also for cinema screenings once a week. To achieve this, several scenographic tools are used, including: a stage floor, walkways, motorized carriers, a projection
booth, a pre-wired control room, and audiovisual and stage lighting networks. The residents of Illac say, “The Espace Quérandeau is more than just a hall. It offers the town and its inhabitants a gathering place conducive to exchanges and conviviality, both in winter and summer.”
