Scenography

The Shandong Grand Theater in Jinan, capital of Shandong Province, is one of China’s largest cultural complexes. Opened in 2013, it impresses with its monumental architecture consisting of three golden domes, symbolizing opera, music, and theater, like pearls floating on the waters of the city of a thousand springs. This architectural choice pays tribute to the natural landscapes and culture of Jinan, while asserting a bold modernity. Inside, the stage equipment is of the highest standard, comparable to that of major international venues. The opera hall is equipped with automated stage machinery, with three levels below, double platforms, trapdoors, scenery wagons, turntables, a sliding dance floor, and an orchestra pit. The computerized fly system offers more than 60 lighting trusses and bridges. The Concert Hall has an organ and slightly variable acoustics thanks to movable panels and amplified sound systems. The BlackBox is a truly modular creation and rehearsal space, with a full grid and a retractable grandstand. With its high-performance equipment, the Shandong Grand Theatre has everything it needs to become a hub for creation and dissemination. A true temple of living culture, it embodies the meeting of technical excellence, aesthetic refinement, and openness to the world.
