The purpose of the assessment commissioned by the DPBA was to analyze the condition of the stage equipment at Victoria Hall after 16 years of use. The analysis covers the “upper machinery,” “lower machinery,” and lighting and audiovisual equipment used in stage operations, most of which dates back to the previous renovation work in 2006.
In terms of machinery, essential components and stage control systems have become obsolete and need to be updated, particularly with regard to podium machinery and lifting hoists.
With regard to lighting and audiovisual equipment, the assessment provided an overview of their condition and any shortcomings, as well as the need for modernization and technological upgrades.
Following the assessment, several phases of work were undertaken by the City of Geneva: upgrading the lifting equipment to comply with standards for lifting above people, replacing the control system and bringing the stage lifts into compliance, and renovating the sound and control systems in connection with the extension of the dressing rooms.
