As part of the celebrations for the 150 years of activity of the École française de Rome, the façade of the Farnese Palace, home to the École française and of the French Embassy, was unveiled fully restored on December 9, 2024. The restoration began in 2021 and aims to restore the façade to its original colors, as envisioned by the four architects who worked on it: Antonio da Sangallo, Michelangelo, Vignola and Giacomo Della Porta. The entire process was led by Pierre-Antoine Gatier’s agency, with the support of a Franco-Italian scientific committee and under the supervision of the Italian Superintendency for Archaeology, Fine Arts and Landscape of Rome.

The aim is to share our favourites from the Italian cultural scene on a monthly basis: events that we haven’t necessarily taken part in, but which we have enjoyed.
